Lavanya Narasiah, is a family practitioner at the CDAR (Clinique des demandeurs d'asile et réfugiés) in Montreal since over 17 years and the medical director of the Clinique des Réfugiés CISSS Champlain Charles-Lemoyne. These clinics offer first-line medical attention to refugee claimants, refugees and other immigrants having recently arrived to the Montreal region.
She is a member of the steering committee of the Canadian Collaboration for Immigrant and Refugee Health (CCIRH) and co-author on a number of publications of the Canadian Guidelines for Immigrant and Refugee Health (CMAJ).
She has recently joined the Herzl Family Practice Center at the Jewish General Hospital medicine and is a McGill University Faculty Lecturer and a teaching professor with the Université de Sherbrooke.
She divides her time between her medical practice and music and released her album "Dharani-Earth" with colours from India, West Africa, Brazil and Latin America featuring over 30 exceptional musicians from Montreal and around the world (available on iTunes and CD Baby).
