Short Biography – Doreen Wan-Chow-Wah, MD, FRCPC
Dr. Wan-Chow-Wah obtained her Medical degree and completed her Internal Medicine residency, Geriatric Medicine fellowship and a 1 year clinical fellowship in Medical Oncology at McGill University. She is Assistant Professor in the Division of Geriatric Medicine, Department of Medicine and an Associate member in the Department of Oncology, Faculty of Medicine at McGill University.
Dr. Wan-Chow-Wah is a geriatrician-internist practicing mainly at the Royal Victoria Hospital (Glen site). She has been, since its inception 10 years ago, the Medical Director of the Geriatric Oncology Clinic at the Segal Cancer Center of the Jewish General Hospital. It is a specialized outpatient and inpatient clinical service which assists in the care of older cancer patients. Recently this year, she established a Geriatric Oncology Clinic within the Cedars Cancer Center of the MUHC.
She is Program Director for McGill’s Geriatric Medicine and Geriatric Oncology fellowship programs. She has participated in various research projects on cancer in older patients, looking at treatment decision-making in older patients requiring chemotherapy, usefulness of frailty markers in evaluating older cancer patients, and factors that influence older patients when deciding to accept or decline cancer treatments.
