Overview

In this workshop we will discuss tricks to help in the diagnosis of pediatric hernias, hydroceles, undescended testes, explain why routine imaging is useless and when to refer. If time allows, we will discuss common foreskin problems and touch on head&neck masses.

Objectives

As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • More easily differentiate between hernias and hydroceles.
  • Understand that ultrasound examination is not useful for most children with hernias or hydrocele.
  • Assess infants with undescended testes, know when to refer and understand why routine ultrasound examination is useless.
