Objectives

As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the incidence and cost associated with HF in the elderly
  2. Understand the mechanism by which ageing predisposes to HF
  3. Be aware of the presentation of HF in the elderly, including more specific signs and symptoms
  4. Understand the management of HF in this population, including lifestyle changes, pharmacotherapy, and cardiac resynchronization therapy
  5. Solutions to common problems with HF medications
  6. Practical application of the guidelines
